On TV

October 3, 2008

Two members of the SVA community recently made news on (and about) television. In September, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded an Emmy to Axel Baumann, who will teach in the new MFA in Social Documentary Film program next year. Baumann won the award for his cinematography work on Carrier, a documentary directed by Department Chair Maro Chermayeff.

Also, notable alumnus Genevieve Gorder (BFA 1998 Graphic Design) has announced that she will be hosting Dear Genevieve, a new show on HGTV starting in January 2009. The program will feature Gorder offering design advice to viewers who “have fallen out of love with their home.” In each episode, she will address questions uploaded to HGTV.com and provide answers in person. The new show follows her other cable-TV home-design hits, Trading Spaces and Town Haul.
