The Visual Effects Society (VES) announced its nominations for the 6th Annual VES Awards, and four SVA alumni were among those being recognized for their work in TV and film effects. Spencer Cook (BFA 1985 Film and Video) was nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Motion Picture (Spider-Man 3); Cook and Doug Bloom (BFA 2001 Computer Art) received a joint nomination for Best Single Visual Effect of the Year (Spider-Man 3—The Birth of Sandman); Remington Scott (BFA 1991 Fine Arts) got a nod for Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Motion Picture (Spider-Man 3—Sandman); and Andrea Shear (BFA 2004 Computer Art) is up for Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Broadcast Program or Commercial (Smallville—Metropolis City).


The winners will be announced by the VES on Sunday, February 10, at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
