Few modern gadgets are as culturally ubiquitous as Apple’s iPod music player, and the BFA Advertising and Graphic Design Department has created an exhibition to turn the device into art. “my-Pod” features work by department students who were asked by the curator, 3D Design Chair Kevin O’Callaghan, to create “shrines” for their iPods. The 35 unique environments they designed and built offer fresh, and oftentimes topical or humorous, perspectives on one of today’s icons of consumer design.
“my-Pod” will be on view at the One Club for Art and Copy, 21 East 26th Street, 5th floor, from November 19 – 30 (closed November 22 – 25). There will be an opening reception on Monday, November 19, 6 – 8pm.
