  • “Past : Present : Future,” an exhibition of work by students, alumni and faculty of the MFA Computer Art Department, reflecting their multidisciplinary practices. On view will be digital video, computer animation, sculpture and prints exploring human behavior and the body in motion, among other concerns. October 27 – November 21; Reception: Thursday, November 1, 5 – 7pm.
  • “The Masters Series: Steven Heller,” an exhibition that highlights the inspiration and collaboration behind Steven Heller’s many achievements as a writer and art director. Heller is the author, co-author or editor of over 100 books on graphic design, illustration and political art, was an art director at The New York Times for 33 years and is a columnist for The New York Times Book Review. He is also the co-founder and co-chair of the MFA Design Department and co-founder of the MFA Design Criticism Department at SVA. Visual Arts Museum, 209 East 23rd Street, through Saturday, December 8.

  • LAST CHANCE: “Body Modifications,” an exhibition showcasing works by recent graduates of the BFA Fine Arts Department, curated by Jeanne Siegel; “Architectural Spaces,” an exhibition showcasing sculptural installations with an architectural reference by recent graduates of the BFA Fine Arts Department, curated by Gary Sherman; and “Sculpture,” an exhibition showcasing works by BFA Fine Arts Department students and recent graduates, curated by Andrew Ginzel.   • LAST CHANCE: “Prime Time,” an exhibition of work by students in the BFA Fine Arts and BFA Interior Design Departments and the Honors Program. Curated by department chairs Suzanne Anker, Tom Huhn and Jane Smith. Westside Gallery, 133/141 West 21st Street, through Saturday, October 20.
  • “Places of My Youth,” an exhibition of photography by alumnus Katie Kingma (BFA 2005 Photography) exploring the relationship between memory, events and place, curated by Jerry Vezzuso; “New Work,” a selection of photographs by alumnus Max Dworkin (BFA 2006 Photography), including environmental portraits and figures in the landscape caught or suspended in a state of action, curated by Jerry Vezzuso; “Isthmus,” an exhibition featuring work by nine emerging photographers who graduated from the BFA Photography Department and formed their own critique group as a way to bridge their studies and a life-long art practice, curated by Eric Weeks; and “Vertical Project,” an exhibition of design strategies for presenting the student work of the BFA Interior Design Department, curated by department chair Jane Smith.
