A handful of award winners have been announced recently: first, the SVA Web site (www.sva.edu) has been selected by the Web Marketing Association (WMA) as an “Outstanding Web Site” for its 2007 WebAwards. This is the second time the WMA has recognized SVA’s site, having also picked the College as a 2004 winner, and is one more in a series of awards the site has won since its redesign in 2004.
In addition, SVA has been selected as a “tastemaker” photo school by PDN magazine. In the September 2007 issue, PDN places SVA’s photography programs in its “Photo Schools Tastemakers Watch,” alongside the Columbia College of Art in Chicago, Parsons, the Royal College of Art in London and Yale University. And current BFA Graphic Design Department student Tina Nguyen won a First Honorable Mention (which includes an internship with Fortune magazine) from the Society of Publication Designers. The award went to Nguyen for a travel ad she created for Copenhagen as part of a course taught by faculty member Mitch Shostak.
