Movie buffs who want a peek at the filmmaking talent of tomorrow should mark their calendars for the 18th Annual Dusty Film and Animation Festival and Awards, a showcase of over 100 films by students graduating from the BFA Film, Video and Animation Department. The festival program includes three days of screenings of short films, videos and animations; a screenwriters night, where professional actors read excerpts of screenplays by graduating seniors; and an awards ceremony and gala reception with notable presenters from the film industry, including actor Frederico Castelluccio (BFA 1986 Illustration) and award-winning editor Thelma Schoonmaker.
The screenings, which are free and open to the public, will take place April 25 – 27 at the Directors Guild Theater, 110 West 57th Street: Wednesday, April 25, 3 – 11pm; Thursday, April 26, 12 noon – 11pm (Animation Sidebar: 7 – 11pm); Friday, April 27, 1 – 11pm. The screenwriters night will be on Tuesday, April 24, 6:30pm, at The National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South; and the awards ceremony will be held on Monday, April 30, at the Directors Guild, with a gala reception at the Le Parker Meridien Hotel, 118 West 57 Street, 8:30 – 10:30pm.
