Two SVA alumni are the subjects of new retrospective exhibitions. Photographer Bob Minkin (BFA 1981 Graphic Design) will be showing a collection of his music photos in “Minkin Photography: 30 Year Retrospective,” at the California Closets Gallery in San Rafael, California, through Monday, April 30. Minkin has taken photos of well-known rock and blues musicians, including The Grateful Dead, B.B. King and Eric Clapton, which have appeared in Time, Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly.
Scott Massarsky (BFA 2002 Fine Arts) is also getting the retrospective treatment with “Into the Ink: The SVA Years.” This new exhibition will showcase over 30 works created by Massarsky during his years as an SVA student (1998-2002), including etchings, silkscreens, mono prints, pen-and-ink drawings, watercolors and books. “Into the Ink” will be on view at the Saddle River Valley Cultural Center in Upper Saddle River, NJ, throughout the month of February; there will be an artist’s reception on Sunday, February 11, 3 – 5pm.
