Each year, the Alumni Society of School of Visual Arts names several current SVA students as recipients of the Alumni Scholarship Awards. The awards are given to students to help with the completion of their thesis/portfolio projects; all recipients are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and submit a detailed thesis project proposal. The proposals were then reviewed by panels comprised of notable SVA alumni, which made recommendations to the Alumni Society Board for final approval. The awards come from generous donations from alumni, parents and friends of SVA.
The winners are: Kristin Skibinski (MFA Computer Art Department); Randy Hunt and Lara McCormick (MFA Design Department); Michael Egan, Hee Soo Kim and Nikolas Moeller (MFA Fine Arts Department); Julia Cybularz, Xavier Marrades, Thenjiwe Nkosi and Jeong-Seok Park (MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department); Timothy Goodman (BFA Advertising and Graphic Design Department); Sylvia Apostol and Jung-Mi Lee (BFA Computer Art Department); Gabriela Ilijeska (BFA Film and Video Department); Jeanette McPeek and Chen Yerushalmi (BFA Fine Arts Department); Marguerite Dabaie, Sang Jun Ohn and Chari Pere (BFA Illustration and Cartooning Department); Anita Eberhard, Amy Elkins, Lisa Elmaleh, Emily Felger, Morgan Jones and Jing Chen Quek (BFA Photography Department). In addition, Lisa Tuvalo received the William C. Arkell Memorial Award, which goes to a film and video major working on a narrative film; and the Robert I.
