Two prestigious arts organizations have just presented awards to members of the SVA community. Recent alumnus Seth Gollub (BFA 2005 Computer Art) was named winner of the Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Broadcast Program, Commercial or Music Video at the Visual Effects Society’s 5th Annual Awards. Gollub was honored for his character animation work of the gecko in car insurer Geico’s “Chat” commercial.
Also, the Type Directors Club has announced that three current students from the MFA Design Department are winners of TDC Student Awards for Typographic Design. Tamara Gildengers Connolly got second prize for a music video set to Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good”; and both Joshua Hester and Michael Roma were awarded Certificates of Typographic Excellence for their work. This year’s winners will be included in exhibitions touring the US, Canada, Europe and Japan, and will be included in the TDC’s upcoming Annual.
