When the software company Adobe launched its new Photoshop Lightroom program, they went out of their way to get college students involved. Adobe launched a Web site, www.projectphotoshoplightroom.com, and invited student photographers from several schools to post photographs around a specific topic, using the new software to manage and enhance the images. SVA students responded with “Fairytale New York,” featuring digital photos of iconic holiday-season NYC locales: ice skating in Central Park, the elaborate decorations in department-store windows, the giant tree at Rockefeller Center and more.
Faculty member Katrin Eismann, who will also be chair of SVA’s new MPS Digital Photography Department in fall 2007, worked with BFA Photography Department students Robert Cass, Jason Geller, Sigurjon Gudjonsson, Ina Jang, Nickolas Knezevich, Todd Matarazzo, Trung Nguyen, Kotaro Okada, Joe Schiavone, Liesel Soderberg and Daniel M. Weiss on “Fairytale New York.” The resulting images from the project are available on Adobe’s site; click here to see the photos.
