  • Artists Talk on Art presents: Friday, December 15: In Dialog with Kenneth Snelson, a discussion with world-renowned sculptor and digital artist Kenneth Snelson, moderated by Artists Talk on Art Chairman and Founder, Doug Sheer, at 7pm in the Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor. Admission is free for SVA students, faculty, staff and ATOA members; $7 regular admission; $3 for SVA alumni, non-SVA students and seniors.
  • Fine Arts Open Studios: MFA Fine Arts Department, 141 West 21st Street, 8th and 9th floors, Friday, December 15, 12 noon – 9pm (Reception: 5 – 9pm); Saturday, December 16, 12 noon – 6pm. BFA Fine Arts Department Painting and Video Art, 141 West 21st Street, 4th and 6th floors (painting) and room 101C (video screening, 6 – 9pm); Reception: Friday, December 15, 5 – 9pm. All open studio events are free and open to the public.

  • Artists Talk on Art presents: Friday, December 8: Synesthesia and Perception, a panel discussion about the phenomena of synesthesia, a condition in which an individual who receives a stimulus in one sense modality, simultaneously experiences a sensation in another—such as hearing sound when seeing color; and Friday, December 15: In Dialog with Kenneth Snelson, a discussion with world-renowned sculptor and digital artist Kenneth Snelson, moderated by Artists Talk on Art Chairman and Founder, Doug Sheer.   • Art Therapy Lecture: Rebecca Di Sunno, RNCS, ATR-BC, PhD, will present Africa and Art Therapy, a lecture on her experience and the effects of art therapy as an intra-cultural treatment modality. She has volunteered in Tanzania, Africa with the Cross Cultural Solutions organization, where she was able to work in a small community with disabled children and adults. Thursday, December 14, 6:30 – 8:30pm, 132 West 21st Street, 3rd floor.

  • Bruce Wands Book Signing: SVA has partnered with Barnes & Noble to host MFA Computer Art Department Chair Bruce Wands in a discussion of his new book, Art of the Digital Age (Thames & Hudson). Wednesday, December 6, 7pm, Chelsea Barnes & Noble, 675 Sixth Avenue; free and open to the public.
  • MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department Fall Salon: A one-night exhibition of recent work by MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department students. Friday, December 8, 7 – 9pm, 214 East 21st Street, 1st floor; free and open to the public. (Note: This event has been rescheduled from its original November 3 date.)
