Learn about opportunities in a chosen field or profession, as well as individual course offerings, from beginner through advanced. All open houses are from 6:30 – 8:30pm.   • Celebrate Mexico Now: SVA is collaborating with Celebrate Mexico Now, a citywide festival showcasing the vanguard of contemporary Mexican art and culture, to screen the work of Mexico’s top independent filmmakers. There will be a screening of selected shorts by Luis Felipe Hernández Alanís, Carlos Armella, Dante Cerano, Roberto Fiesco, Pedro González-Rubio, Eduviges Tomás and Álvaro Zendejas, followed by a Q & A session with the filmmakers. Wednesday, September 13, 7pm, Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor; free and open to the public.
  • Still Missing: Beauty Absent Social Life Panel Discussion: A panel discussion, in conjunction with the exhibition at the Visual Arts Museum, moderated by SVA faculty member and Art in America Senior Editor Raphael Rubinstein. Thursday, September 21, 7pm, Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor; free and open to the public.
  • Art Therapy Lecture: Judi Betts, Med, AWS, will present a talk entitled Continuous Creativity, discussing the importance of creativity in the art therapy field. As an award-winning author, speaker and artist, Betts looks at how we can foster creativity in our daily lives. Thursday, September 21, 6:30 – 8:30pm, 132 West 21 Street, 3rd floor.   • Alumni Society Auction: The Alumni Society of School of Visual Arts’ second annual Alumni Society Auction will auction off 100 works by SVA alumni, faculty, mentors and students to raise substantial funds to provide scholarships to SVA students; the Society will also honor individuals connected with the College who have made significant contributions to the SVA community and the cultural and artistic life of New York City.
