  • MAT Art Education Thesis Presentations: MAT Art Education Department students will present their thesis projects

    on topics such as visual culture education and self-portraits of adolescent females. Book covers designed by the students to

    visually represent their thesis topics will also be on display. 132 West 21 Street, 4th floor, Thursday, July 6, 10am – 1pm,

    2 – 5pm; Friday, July 7, 10am – 1pm. Free and open to the public.

  • Summer Art for Kids Exhibition: Curated by SVA faculty members Wan Ling Li and Dina Gerasia, this exhibition

    features work produced by kindergarten through fourth grade students during their participation in the two-week Art for Kids

    summer program hosted by the MAT Art Education Department. 132 West 21st Street, 4th floor; Reception: Friday, July 28, 12:30

    – 2:30pm.

  • The Crossroads of Music and the Movies: A panel discussion featuring SVA faculty members Gene Stavis and Salvatore Petrosino, along with musicologist Kristi Brown and cinematographer Anastas Michos. Saturday, June 17, 7pm, in the Gene Stavis Theater, 209 East 23rd Street, 5th floor. Admission is free.
  • Book Signing and Discussion on RoadStrips: SVA has partnered with Barnes & Noble to host a book signing and discussion with Peter Friedrich, alumnus and editor of the comics anthology, RoadStrips. Doug Allen and Peter Kuper, both contributors and SVA faculty members, as well as alumni Megan Kelso and Pat Scanlon, will participate in the discussion. Tuesday, June 20, 7pm, Chelsea Barnes & Noble, 675 Sixth Avenue; free and open to the public.
  • MPS Art Therapy Workshop: 3D Computer Animation for the Art Therapist: Recapturing the Hearts, Minds and Bodies of the Adolescent is a workshop with Brian Austin, MPS, that will examine how the art therapist can work with adolescents using computer animation. The workshop will offer hands-on tutorials designed to help those unfamiliar with the animation process learn the basic features of 3D animation and software. Tuesday, June 27, 6:30 – 8:30pm, 141 West 21 Street, 2nd floor. Free for SVA students, faculty and alumni; $10 for non-SVA students; $20 for the general public.
