The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), recently
inducted Lovejoy Duryea, chair of SVA’s BFA Interior Design Department, to the Association’s College of Fellows.
Admission to the College of Fellows is the highest honor that the IIDA bestows upon its members, recognizing those who have
made outstanding contributions to IIDA and to the interior design profession.
Also, the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum recently announced this
year’s National Design Award winners. MFA Design Department faculty member Paola Antonelli was chosen as the
recipient of the Design Mind Award, joining 10 other notable winners, including architect Paolo Soleri (Lifetime
Achievement Award) and Aeron chair co-creator Bill Stumpf (Product Design Award). Antonelli is curator in the
Department of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and author of the book Objects of Design. The
awards will be presented at a gala dinner in NYC on Wednesday, October 18.
