  • Artists Talk On Art presents: Friday, April 28, Post, Postmodern, a panel discussion on the course of postmodern art, moderated by artist and writer Chris Twomey, in the Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor; and Friday, May 5, Curator’s Choice 2006, a panel discussion featuring the 2006 Curator’s Choice winners and juror of this year’s contest, Nicholas Bergman, in the Gene Stavis Theater, 209 East 23rd Street, 5th floor. Each event takes place at 7pm. Admission for each is free for SVA students, faculty, staff and ATOA members; $7 regular admission; $3 for SVA alumni, non-SVA students and seniors.
  • BFA Illustration and Cartooning Department Open Studios: Visit the BFA Illustration and Cartooning Department studios and see artwork by department seniors. Tuesday, May 2, 6 – 9pm, 132 West 21st Street, 2nd floor. This event is free and open to the public.
  • Art Therapy in Prisons: Art therapist Kathleen Shargo will give a talk about the art therapy program she developed for the East Jersey State Prison and Northern State Prison in Newark, NJ. Wednesday, May 3, 6:30 – 8:30pm, 132 West 21st Street, 3rd floor. Free and open to the public; attendees must RSVP to 212.592.2610 or [email protected].

  • 17th Annual Dusty Film and Animation Festival and Awards: A showcase of over 100 films by students graduating from the BFA Film, Video and Animation Department.   • Art Therapy Workshop: Bonnie Yvonne Allie, LCAT, NCPsyA, will present a workshop entitled The Artistry of Developing an Art Therapy Center.
