New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently broke ground for the High Line project, a newly developed park space that will use abandoned elevated railway tracks on Manhattan’s West Side. The mayor and 200 invited guests all donned lime-green hardhats for the ceremony, which were designed by alumnus Michael DeFeo (BFA 1995 Graphic Design). Each hat was emblazoned with the image of a springtime flower, which DeFeo says, “symbolizes growth and renewal, exactly what the High Line is all about.”
In other design news, Deborah Adler (MFA 2002 Design) is among the winners of the second annual Bottom Line Design Awards, co-sponsored by Business 2.0 and Silicon Valley design firm Frog Design. She was recognized for her work redesigning pill bottles for Target’s nationwide chain of .
