On Tuesday, March 28, the Office of Campus Life hosted the Sixth Annual Women’s Leadership Reception. More than 50 students, faculty and staff members gathered in the George Washington Residence for this yearly event, which recognizes and celebrates women student leaders. Awards were presented for work in residence life to Rhiannon “Bug” Davidson (senior, BFA Film and Video), Jeanne DePartout (senior, BFA Photography), Dani Gros (sophomore, BFA Photography) and Lisa Case (senior, BFA Graphic Design); in the area of student government and campus life involvement, awards were presented to Riva Arnold (sophomore, BFA Fine Arts), Case, Gina Kirlew (senior, BFA Animation), JiEun Lee (senior, BFA Graphic Design), Liesel Soderberg (sophomore, BFA Photography) and Barbara So (senior, BFA Graphic Design); for community service, the awards went to Kristen Basile (senior, BFA Computer Art), Kira Beougher (senior, BFA Illustration), Geada Ford (sophomore, BFA Graphic Design) and Jaclyn Murphy (sophomore, BFA Graphic Design); and Cecilia Grananta (junior, BFA Illustration) got the award for international student involvement.
In addition to the awards, the event featured a talk by alumnus Lisa Kirk (BFA 1991 Fine Arts). She is an award-winning independent curator who spoke on the topic of women in the arts in a post-feminist era.
