BFA Photography Department faculty member Allen Frame is curating “Bearings: The Female Figure,” a new exhibition at PS122 Gallery, 150 First Avenue. The show gathers more than 60 female artists working in a variety of media, each of whom contribute their own personal take on the female form. Included in “Bearings” are works by Pam Butler (MFA 1990 Fine Arts), Elinor Carucci (BFA Photography Department faculty), senior-year photography student Joselyn DeJesus, Lauren Fleishman (BFA 2001 Photography), Carrie Levy (BFA 2000 Photography), Manuela Paz (BFA 2003 Photography), Monique Perreault (BFA 2005 Photography), Ashley Reid (BFA 2005 Photography) and Martha Thorneloe (BFA 2005 Photography).
The exhibition will be on view at PS122 April 2 – 23; there will be an opening reception on Sunday, April 2, 1 – 5pm, and Carucci will be doing a belly-dance performance and signing copies of her book, Diary of a Dancer (Steidl Publishing), at 4pm.
Frame will also be hosting an upcoming Video Slam, where several emerging videomakers will screen and discuss their work, on Tuesday, April 11, 7pm, in the Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor. This event is free and open to the public.
