On Thursday, August 18, the entire SVA staff gathered at Loews Kips Bay Theater for the College’s annual administrative staff meeting. The meeting featured a review of the past year’s highlights by Executive Vice President Anthony P. Rhodes; a sampling of artwork by incoming students, shown by Javier Vega, the executive director of admissions and student affairs; a presentation of enrollment statistics by President David Rhodes; and a look at the College’s upcoming accreditation process from Christopher Cyphers, SVA’s provost. 3D Design Chair Kevin O’Callaghan also screened a rousing video compilation of work done by his students that has been shown around New York City over the years.
The meeting was capped off by the presentation of this year’s Distinguished Staff Awards, given to two employees nominated by their peers for their exceptional contributions to SVA. The 2005 winners were Rob Barton (BFA 1996 Illustration and Cartooning), manager of audiovisual services; and Elaine Chow (MFA 2002 Fine Arts), associate director of development and alumni affairs. Barton and Chow both accepted their awards to the cheers of their fellow employees.
