New Masters

September 2, 2005

The MFA Fine Arts Department was recently visited by curator Mark S. Waskow, who evidently liked what he saw: Waskow has assembled work by seven of the department’s degree candidates for an exhibition at Studio Place Arts (SPA), in Barre, Vermont. “Becoming Contemporary Masters?” is on view at SPA through Saturday, September 10, and features work by current second-year students Jeffrey Beebe, Tim Clifford, Christine Kim, Adam Krueger, Dylan Mortimer, Ted Riederer and Jae Kwoun Youn.

Another artist getting noticed outside of NYC is Federico Muelas (MFA 2002 Computer Art), whose installation Dripping Sounds has been selected for this year’s edition of Ars Electronica festival in Linz, Austria, through Tuesday, September 6. Ars Electronica is one of the top international venues for digital art, and Muelas is one of only 19 artists selected for the exhibition.
