Cover Me

April 1, 2005

Visual communication magazine CMYK recently announced the winner of its contest to select work for the cover of the spring 2005 issue. The winner is Lenny Naar, currently a senior in the BFA Graphic Design Department. Naar’s victorious design for issue 29 – selected from a pool of applicants from several prominent art schools – is a promotional piece for the Helvetica font, featuring eye-catching words placed on a model’s stomach and legs. The image tops an issue that is full of work by SVA students, and also features an interview with MFA Design Department co-chair Steven Heller in which he discusses the ineffable inspiration he gets from the quartz clock on his office wall.

The issue is available on newsstands now, and CMYK is already soliciting new student work for its summer 2005 issue; an application form is available at www.cmykmag.com.
