  • Thomas Woodruff’s Freak Parade: A documentary film by Alex Rappaport about the BFA Illustration and Cartooning chair. Wednesday, December 15, 6pm and 7:30pm. Visual Arts Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, Third Floor. Admission is free.
  • Artists Talk On Art: “The End of Art with Critic Donald Kuspit,” Friday, December 10; and “Environmental Art: The Teaneck Creek,” Friday, December 17. Each event at 7pm. Visual Arts Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, Third Floor. Admission for each is $7; free to SVA students and faculty; $3 for non-SVA students and seniors.
  • CAVA Technology Fair: CAVA Services, SVA’s on-campus computer store, is hosting a Technology Fair in the Student Center, 217 East 23rd Street, on Thursday, December 16, 10am – 6pm. Attendees can purchase computers, software and accessories, and there will be a drawing for iPods and a Nintendo DS.

  • Artists Talk On Art: “Two Works in Progress: The Gates, Project for Central Park, NYC; and Over the River, Project for the Arkansas River, Colorado,” with Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Friday, December 3; and “The End of Art with Critic Donald Kuspit,” Friday, December 10. Each event at 7pm. Admission for each is $7; free to SVA students and faculty; $3 for non-SVA students and seniors.
  • Martin Parr: The BFA Photography Department and Camera Club of New York present a talk by photographer Martin Parr. Tuesday, December 7, 7pm. Admission is free with SVA ID.
  • John Dugdale: A presentation of the photographer’s work to benefit Visual AIDS. Thursday, December 9, 7pm. Suggested donation of $10, $5 for SVA students.
  • Richard Avedon: A Consideration: The BFA Photography Department presents a panel discussion of Richard Avedon’s work, moderated by faculty member Philip Gefter. Tuesday, December 14, 7pm. Admission is free.
