All semester long, SVA’s fine arts students hunker down in their studios to hone their skills and develop their creative voices. It’s often a solitary process, out of sight and behind closed doors. At the end of each semester, however, the BFA and MFA Fine Arts Departments open these doors to the public with a series of Open Studios events. This term is no exception: On December 11 – 12, the BFA Sculpture Program invites art enthusiasts to the College’s Sculpture Studio, 30 West 17th Street, to see work built and sculpted in a variety of media; there will be a reception at the studio on Monday, December 13, 5 – 9pm.
The next set of studio doors will unlock on Friday, December 17, 5 – 9pm, when both the BFA Painting and MFA Fine Arts studios at 141 West 21st Street are open to the public. Both sets of open studios regularly deliver a festive atmosphere and fresh, energetic work from the students. The BFA studios are on the fourth and sixth floors, and the MFA studios (which will remain open through Saturday, December 18th) occupy floors eight and nine.
