Innovative work by a pair of SVA alums is currently up on big screens across the country. John Velazquez (BFA 2002 Computer Art) and Wendy Klein (BFA 2001 Computer Art) created a six-minute underwater battle sequence for the feature film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow through their work at visual-effects company Luma Pictures. The film uses extensive high-tech effects to place stars Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in realistic computer-generated scenarios.
On the smaller screen, Lance Cain (instructor; and 1991 Film and Video) has won an Emmy for Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special, for his work on A&E In Concert: Paul McCartney In Red Square. This was Cain’s first Emmy nomination.
