On Wednesday, August 25, the School of Visual Arts held its second annual all-staff meeting at the Loews Kips Bay Theatre in Manhattan. SVA Executive Vice President Anthony P. Rhodes welcomed the 285 staff members in attendance with an upbeat opening speech, and President David Rhodes presented a detailed report on the current state of the College while also looking to the future. The meeting concluded with the announcement of the two winners of the 2004 Distinguished Staff Awards, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the College and its mission: Kim Ablondi, who is the assistant to the chair of the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay Department; and Bernard Gibson, an assistant to the Registrar. The winners were selected by members of the Organization and Communication Task Force, who reviewed nominations of 17 outstanding staff members, which were offered by their colleagues at SVA. The two winners each received a certificate and a monetary award from the College.
