End-of-the-Year Preview

As the 2003-04 academic year begins to wind down, SVA is gearing up for a non-stop volley of end-of-the-year exhibitions and events. This week, VA Briefs is featuring the first batch from more than 20 presentations of student work, including exhibitions, thesis presentations and portfolio reviews. Get out your calendar and start making plans to attend:


Computer Art

  • April 27, 29, 30: MFA Computer Art Thesis Presentations, SVA Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor, 7:30 – 10:30pm. For presentation schedule, call 212.592.2532 or visit www.sva.edu/mfacad.
  • Wednesday, April 28: MFA Computer Art Thesis Presentations, 136 West 21st Street, 9th floor. Open studios, 6 – 7:30pm; presentations, 7:30 – 10pm.


Fine Arts

  • April 23 – May 8: One Painter, One Sculptor, Visual Arts Gallery, 601 West 26th Street, Suite 1502; Reception: Tuesday, April 27, 6 – 8pm.
  • April 24 – May 1: Foundation Exhibition, SVA Gallery, 209 East 23rd Street, and Westside Gallery, 141 West 21st Street; Reception: Friday, April 23, 5 – 7pm. Selected works by students completing their first year of studies at SVA.
  • Monday, April 26: BFA Fine Arts Open Studios: Sculpture, 30 West 17th Street, 5 – 9pm.
  • Thursday, April 29: BFA Fine Arts Open Studios: Painting, 141 West 21st Street, 4th and 6th Floors, 5 – 9pm.
  • April 29 – May 1: MFA Fine Arts Open Studios, 141 West 21st Street, 8th and 9th Floors. Friday, 12 – 8pm; Saturday, 12 – 6pm; Reception: Thursday, April 29, 5 – 9pm.


Photography

  • April 24 – May 1: Foundation Exhibition, SVA Gallery, 209 East 23rd Street; Reception: Friday, April 23, 5 – 7pm. Selected works by students completing their first year of studies at SVA.
  • April 23–May 8: Mentors, BFA Photography, Visual Arts Gallery, 601 West 26th Street, Suite 1502; Reception: Tuesday, April 27, 6 – 8pm. An exhibition of works by selected BFA Photography students, inspired by their relationships with leading members of the New York City arts community.
