Maggie Doyle, a student in SVA’s MFA Fine Arts Department, is the featured artist in New York University’s “Broadway Windows.” Her installation, Candy-Coated, on view through March 28 and mounted in five windows at the corner of Broadway and East 10th Street, is lit 24 hours a day.
Lollipop candy frames cover the walls of Doyle’s confectionery presentation. Rock-candy mountains tempt the viewer to try and taste what stands before them. A glistening grape frieze links window to window like plastic wrapped sugar-candy strung together. If that is not enough, tangerine and blueberry syrup floor tiles form a patchwork rug showcasing a cherry-flavored chair propped against one of lime green.
