SVA is one of eight film schools that have recently partnered with Unifrance, (an organization whose mission is to promote French filmmakers internationally) and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a visiting-artists program entitled “On Set with French Cinema.” The program gives selected film students the opportunity to work closely in master workshops with two contemporary French film directors. Director Patrice Chéreau gave his “cinema lesson” at SVA on October 30, and Cédric Klapisch will be on campus November 6.
There will be a series of screenings open to the SVA community and the public; each will be followed by a Q&A with the director:
- October 31, Patrice Chéreau, Those Who Love Me Can Take the Train, 9pm, MoMA Film at The Gramercy Theatre, 127 East 23rd Street
- November 5, Cédric Klapisch When the Cat’s Away, 7pm, Gene Stavis Theatre, 209 East 23rd Street, Room 502
- November 7, Cédric Klapisch, Not For or Against, Quite the Contrary (this screening marks the US premiere of the film), 9pm, MoMA Film at The Gramercy Theatre,
127 East 23rd Street
