BFA Computer Art: No Summer Vacation

June 21, 2002

Michael Blank (2001) won the High Honors award for his animated film Waldemar at the Kalamazoo International Animation Festival in Michigan.

Joshua Davis, Flash instructor, is mentioned in the July issue of ArtForum as a contributor to Radical Software Group’s Carnivore software. Carnivore is the winner of the 2002 Ars Electronica Golden Nica Award for Net Vision. It’s based on FBI telecommunications eavesdropping software of the same name and uses “packet-sniffing” technology to create vivid depictions of raw data. Davis and other artists developed interfaces that interpret data variously as billowing circles, expanding supernovas, and a virtual reality modeling language update on the game Monopoly.
