Hollywood Drops In: The Industry Comes to SVA

The Film, Video and Animation Department cordially invites all SVA students to attend a screening followed by a Q & A on April 11 with director, writer, and producer Mira Nair. Her films include, among other masterpieces, Monsoon Wedding (now in theaters), Mississippi Masala, Salaam Bombay!, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, and So Far from India. It’s happening at the SVA Amphitheater, 209 East 23 Street; the screening begins promptly at 1:15pm.


The following day, April 12, screenwriter Henry Bean will be at SVA for another dynamic screening/Q&A session. Among his many credits are The Believer, Venus Rising, Deep Cover, and Internal Affairs. SVA Amphitheater; the screening begins (promptly) at 9:30am.


Chris Wedge, a former SVA faculty member, co-founder of New York’s Blue Sky studio, and the director of the smash hit Ice Age, will be speaking at SVA on April 9. He’ll be discussing the making of Ice Age, the first major studio release of a 3D computer animated feature made entirely on the East Coast. ASIFA-East is presenting his talk. SVA Amphitheater at 7pm.
